The Uraban Warfare (UW) is a content in the game that appears to have had a bit of an overhaul in early 2019. Since I started playing after this, the UW I know is what I will be talking about, and as such, the benefits etc are all related to that. (this is the one that the battle goes for 4 hours and you get to run it twice in 24 hours)
First, let’s start with why you want to do UW.
- It is a good source of medals – more so than scavenging. Even better if you try to hack a few PvP.
- It is part of the daily quests – doing two battles itself will give you a 15min speed up, and completing the quest also contributes to the daily 10 gold.
- It can be used as a testing ground for team composition.
- Since the game (at this stage) doesn’t allow you to farm scenarios, this is one of the few places you can farm for bricks and food somewhat reliably. (When battling trash mob).
- Personally, I really enjoy the hack n slash element of the mob fight….
Next, some tips and ideas about the actual battle..
- If you have the bricks, invest in your cars. Higher grade cars go faster (comes back, they all arrive at the destination at the same speed) and higher level gives you a few extra BP.
- To defend or not to defend, that’s up to you
- If your objective is to farm, then having your territory undefended is an idea. This way, there is a chance that one of the other players will take down your guard tower and gives you a chance to hit it again.
- You can defend with only one unit – this will force the other players to use one car to take down the tower. (I semi-counter this by having one car loaded with lower-tier survivors.
- Full-on defence is the way to go if you want to get no1 since only the player with the highest score gets the bonus goodie (which can have survivor tokens)
- Once a guard post is occupied, there’s a defence bubble of 10 mins. If you do not place any defence within this time, it is open to attack. However, another tricky use that I have seen, is using this to your advantage at the last 10 mins of the battle, where you guarantee that the territory is occupied.
- While you can attack any hex at any pace, I have seen a pretty smart way of someone occupying in a straight line. This allows you to have a wide surface area to counter other occupation, since you can’t attack a hex that you don’t have access to -it doesn’t say it has to be connected.
- There is a tiny wiggle room for levels (ranks). – It’s relatively easy to move up the rank by simply being active and just a little lucky. For every chance you get, if you keep hitting bases, and be on the top 3, you will get rank points, and with enough, you will get to the next rank. However, I’ve also found that if you get over-excited, you can get to ranks, where your survivors aren’t levelled up enough to take out mobs. In this case, I often just join a UW and intentionally lose, where I lose points and drop rank.
Either way, there are many benefits in playing UW, even if it’s just to join and lose, it is a good valid way to gain valuable resources – especially if you are a F2P player.
Happy hunting.
