Undead Nartion – Combat systems – Pt2 – PvP

In one of the previous post, I have mentioned that there are different combat types and that different survivors has it’s place for each.

Having covered

  1. The basic
  2. Time – E.g., the breach

The next one I want to cover is the PvP aspect.

PvP in Undead nation are Raids, and Urban Warfare when being defended by fellow players. What makes this different from other part of the game is that you are fighting against other survivors – and as such, you will expect to face mechanism or strategy that you will deploy to defend and also traps. – In this post, I’m not going to cover defence breaking strategy, but merely cover why certain survivors has some good use.

The primary difference in practicality, is that you are facing smaller number of higher capacity units to fight against – not the horde of mindless zombies. – In short, because of this, you will gain more benefit from units that hits hard, and takes other units out. You will be facing a max of 4 units at a time (often Helena being the 4th based on how the rooms are configured) so it is important to take out whoever has to be taken out properly.

Survivors that has more (than other places) use in the PvP

  1. Egner Brothers – useful in taking out Jay, they are extremely useful in sneaking behind tanks to take out those pesky splash and damage dealers.
  2. Jay – he’s a bit of a given, but I use him in the support breaker all the time, as his skill allows him to ignore the tanks.
  3. George – Similar to Jay, he has the ability to disrupt enemy formation when he throws his anchor.
  4. Kyle – His third skill provides a mini-stun every time it hits (which by my observation, is four hits per throw). I have had him stun-lock me before, but even if you aren’t so lucky/unlucky, there’s no doubt that he is one of the few splash units that has more use than others.
  5. Ema – I will be honest, and I would admit that I haven’t used her properly before, but if there’s anywhere that she is meant to be used, it’s in an offensive situation, where she has ample chance for her “upgrade” to occure.
  6. Amanda – I couldn’t decide if I wanted to put her here, but I thought I will give her, her due credit. – She is a great attacher who can tank, due to her dodging ability.
  7. Sharon – She is surprisingly high in DPS, and her grenade has the ability to disrupt formations. In addition, her increased range after her 2nd skill gives her slight increase in survivability
  8. Bill – like Ema, this is another unit that gains benefit the more that’s happening, so he will have more benefit being used offensively, than defensively.

Survivors that you may want to avoid, or just choose others – I’m not saying you can’t use them (especially if you pulled them as 5 star, when you are not that high level yet)

  1. Helen – Again, to be honest, I don’t have her yet, but the issue I have in using her as offence is..
    1. Her true strength comes when she goes down once – hard to control
    2. Once she “comes back” she takes damage periodically, and won’t make it through the whole battle.
  2. Julia – I love her, but she has two issues
    1. Her range is short, meaning that she’s just too close to the front line
    2. She is slow, dragging that damn mini-gun.. (and why the hell is she still in her heels?)
    3. However – I will not deny that her perk 3 (Concentration) can save your butt)
  3. Col Corbet – Col’s action where he has to sit and get into position means that by the time he is in position, the battle can be over, and he can barely get a shot in. He is also not very strategic that he aims and fires at the tank….
  4. Yoona – Another unit like Col, who’s time to aim just becomes a bottle-neck in combats. – I have to admit, I haven’t had the patience to see how she will work as a anti-tank, with her perk 3 benefit, but at a 3% damage proportional to HP, you are still talking about 33 hits…….

I haven’t used and thoroughly tested all the units personally, so if anyone has any objection, or any other suggestions, fire it through, and I’m more than happy to discuss.

Happy hunting.
